2016 ISOE Asian ALARA Symposium
2016 ISOE Asian ALARA Symposium was held on 7-9, September 2016 in Iwaki city, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, with attendance of 32 people from Japan, Republic of Korea, Sweden, and USA. The first 2days were dedicated for paper presentation and discussion, and a technical tour to Fukushima Daiichi NPP was conducted on the last day.
The symposium consisted of 12 papers including special lectures, a special session and technical sessions. As a special lecture, Hiroko Tezuka of NSRA/ATC introduced an overview of the Asian Technical Center activities. In the special session, Mr. Yuko Endo, Mayor of Kawauchi village, and Mr. Seiji Ozawa of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, introduced activities after the accidents in neighboring municipalities of the Fukushima Daiichi NPP. Technical sessions were dedicated to follow up the Fukushima Daiichi NPP Accidents, radiation protection management and ALARA activities in NATC. The participants shared/exchanged information throughout fruitful discussion during this symposium.
At the end of the symposium, the following two distinguished papers were selected.
œ New Radiological Control of Areas in Fukushima Daiichi NPS,
Mr. Katsuhiro Yasui, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Inc., Japan
œ Analysis on Occupational Exposure of Radiation Workers in Korea based on KISOE Database (2005-2014),
Mr. Byeongsoo Kim, Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, Republic of Korea

A technical tour to the Fukushima Daiichi NPP of TEPCO was held on 9 September 2016.
First, the attendees visited J-village where lectures on the current situation of the NPP and further activities in the NPP were introduced by the staff of TEPCO. Then they moved by bus to the site .It is for the second time to visit the site as a technical tour of ISOE Asian ALARA symposium. Different from the last lime (in 2013), attendees were not requested to wear hard radiation protection devices such as radiation protection cloths and full face masks, but were requested only to wear shoe covers, gloves and APDs, because of significant reduction of radiation levels at the site by decontamination works conducted since 2013. They visited the Emergency Control Room at the site and then looked around within the controlled areas of the site from inside the bus. During the tour, staffs from a section of the radiation protection control were on the bus to answer questions from attendees. A lot of questions were made by the attendees during and after the tour and the staffs of TEPCO kindly answered them. The attendees were very much interested in and satisfied with the tour.
